A testament to survival and pride, Honour is a searing one-woman performance about child prostitutes in Mumbai. Writer, director, and actor Dipti Mehta performed her tale of a young soon-to-be prostitute Rani, on the eve of entering the sex trade in the slums of India, and the attempts of a female journalist to save her.
The show premiered at La MaMa ETC in December of 2012 under the direction of Terry Berliner. With a creative team that included Antje Ellermann (Set), Paul Miller (Lights), Scott Stauffer (Sound), and Kirk Firzgerald (Projections). The performance included projections of original photographs by British photographer Helen Rimell and concluded with a talk back on sex trafficking with members of AF3IRM, a transnational feminist women’s organization.
